Both the Warsaw varsity and JV baseball teams posted wins over Wawasee Monday, and both won by identical 8-2 scores.

VAR 8- Wawasee 2
Once again it was a big inning that propelled the Tigers to victory at Tiger Field. They plated 4 in the bottom of the third to erase an early 1-0 deficit.

The Warriors started the scoring in their half of their first with an unusual inning. Reed Nelson struck out the first three batters in the Wawasee order, but strike three on the third batter was in the dirt and went back to the screen, allowing the batter to reach. A couple of walks and a batted ball that only went about 20 feet from home plate led to a run, but the threat ended with the bases still loaded.

Nelson pitched into the 5th, allowing 1 unearned run and 5 hits but walking 3 while striking out 7. Quinton Brock was excellent in relief of Nelson, striking out three Warriors while only giving up a single in two innings. Brock Bowser got the last three out to put the Tigers at 4-4 on the season and 1-0 in the NLC.

At the plate, Fr. Grady Nelson went 3-4 with a solo home run to right-center field, 3 runs scored and 2 batted in. Kharaeus Miller lalso scored 3 times from the leadoff position.

JV 8- Wawasee 2
The junior varsity won their NLC opener at Boggs Park.

The Tigers struck first in the bottom of the second inning  when Alex Brooks homered to center field.

The Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning on a run-scoring single by Brody Heady and a passed ball.

Andrew Kerschner earned the win for Warsaw Junior Varsity. The right-hander gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. DJ Harlan pitching the final two innings, striking out three batters.

Caleb Reihl, Spencer Love, AJ Hepler, Heady, Schultz, Brooks, and Kerschner each collected one hit for Warsaw. Reihl and Hepler each drove in two. T
