A strike away from a 10th inning, Kellan Bailey sent everyone home instead.
Bailey's single past the shortstop with two on and two out with an 0-2 count in the bottom of the 9th listed Warsaw to a 4-3 win over Huntington North Friday night.
The Tigers finish the regular season with a record of 21-6 and Northern Lakes Conference champions (12-2).
The Tigers used four pitchers on the evening, including Bailey, for their final tuneup before the sectional. Bailey, who Head Coach Andy Manes has used as a "closer" this season, pitched the final four innings and got the win.
The Tigers scored 3 in the first to take a 3-1 lead after one, and the score stayed that way until the Vikings scored 2 unearned runs in the top of the 7th to send tha game to extra innings tied 3-3.
Warsaw will need to beat Northridge for a third time this season in the opening round of the sectional Thursday at Penn to advance to the semifinals (see related story with sectional game days/times and ticket links on the baseball news page).
