Warsaw's varsity baseball team erased a 7-0 deficit in their season-opening game against South Bend St. Joe, but in the end darkness turned out to be the ultimate winner in what turned out to be a 7-7 tie at Tiger Field.
Down 7-0 after the top of the 4th, the Tigers scored 4 in the bottom half, highlighted by Jette Woodward's 3-run home run over the evergreens in left field.
They pulled within a run at 7-6 in the bottom of the 7th and had the tying run at second base when a harmless ground ball to short turned into a throwing error that allowed the Tigers to draw even.
After the final out of the 7th inning, the coaches and umpires met and determined that it was too dark to continue.
Kaden Ciaccia-Long had two of the Tigers' seven hits.
Warsaw goes on spring break next week and doesn't return to game action until the following week.
