The Warsaw Lady Tiger soccer team defeated Wawasee Saturday 5-0 at the Tiger Soccer Complex Saturday morning. 

Senior Bonnie Hampton opened the scoring just seven minutes into the match as she stole a missed clearance from Wawasee and put it in the back of the net.  Juniors Sophie Johnston and Natalie Brown both got goals with less than seven minutes in the first half to give Warsaw a 3-0 lead entering the break.

The Lady Tigers continued to dominate possession in the second half, as senior Rylee Burns scored two goals less than two minutes apart to give Warsaw a 5-0 lead.  Many more chances came after Burns' two goals, but Wawasee's defense tightened down and kept Warsaw off of the board for the remainder of the game. 

Ellie Schenck got the shutout for Warsaw, whose defense has only given up one goal to conference opponents in six conference matches.

The Tigers now stand at 10-3-2 (6-0) on the season.  The win also clinched at least a share of the NLC title for Warsaw, which marks their fourth in a row.  

The Tigers return to the field Tuesday where they will play host to non-conference opponent Carroll.  Warsaw's eight seniors will be recognized before the game. To date, these seniors have amassed a record of 42-22-7, and an astounding NLC record of 25-1-1. Kickoff is set for 7:15pm, with the celebration of seniors beginning at 6:45. 

"I'm really excited that our group got on the board early today," said Head Coach Jon Hoover. "We had some great stretches where we moved the ball with pace and precision.  It was also nice to be able to rest some players that traditionally play all or most of each game for us. 

"We have a big week with two good teams ahead of us, so we'll need to be healthy if we want to come out with two wins".
