Varsity Baseball Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning Over Wawasee

Warsaw Tigers Varsity stole the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Wawasee on Tuesday. The game was tied at four with Warsaw Tigers Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kellan Bailey reached on a dropped third strike.
Wawasee got on the board in the first inning. An error scored one run for Wawasee.
Sam Justice pitched Warsaw Tigers Varsity to victory. The fireballer lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out 13 and walking one. Bailey threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Bailey recorded the last out to earn the save for Warsaw Tigers Varsity.
Grant Brooks took the loss for Wawasee. The bulldog surrendered five runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
Wawasee socked two home runs on the day. Brooks went for the long ball in the third inning. Ty Brooks had a four bagger in the fifth inning.
Justice led Warsaw Tigers Varsity with two hits in four at bats. Justice led Warsaw Tigers Varsity with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
Wawasee scattered six hits in the game. Brooks and Brooks all managed multiple hits for Wawasee.
