Tiger Unified Flag Football Earns First Win

The Warsaw Tiger Unified Flag Football team scored a thrilling victory over the Goshen Redhawks 33-26 on Monday night. The victory marked the Tigers' first win of the season.

Both teams showcased their elite defensive awareness throughout the night, with plays that kept the crowd engaged and on their feet. Senior Nathan Nette plugged the middle of the Tiger defensive line all night forcing the Redhawks to attack the edges. By the late stages of the second half, outside linebackers Ben Slabach and Mason Anderson slowed the Goshen ground attack down to just a trickle of the initial tidal wave the Tigers had felt in the first half.  Anderson, who consistently leads the team in high fives and words of encouragement, had this to say, "Wooow, I'm proud of this team!"

Chase Nichter, living up to his name, chased down the Goshen quarterbacks with a flurry of blitzes from his safety position. By changing the timing of his attacks, Nichter kept the Goshen offense guessing throughout the night.

Coach Bricker had this to say, "This team is gelling right now. Tonight it was about our defensive focus and effort to apply pressure on the Goshen quarterbacks. Those guys can really sling the ball, but I felt like we were able to keep them on their heels a bit with Nette and Nichter.  Those guys gave us all they had tonight."

The Tigers are finally back at home on Wednesday for Senior Night against the Elkhart Lions.  Kickoff is 6:30PM.
