Tiger baseball scored three times in the 9th inning in a 3-1 win at Northridge Wednesday night.
It was a scoreless game hearding to the 7th inning when Cohen Heady led of the frame with a base hit. Hunter Dippon followed with what amounted to a swinging bunt, advancing Heady to second with one out. Kellan Bailey followed with a single that scored Heady to give the Tigers the lead.
That's when things got chaotic.
The throw from center field to try to get Heady at the plate was cutoff, and the relay to second base to get Bailey trying to move up to second was wild. The ball bounded into center field, but the center fielder was in right center field because that's where the ball was originally hit. With no one nearby, Bailey hopped up and came around to score.
Brandt Martin was terrific on the mound, pitching into the 7th inning, allowing a run and 5 hits while striking out 3 and walking 4. Bailey came on in relief and got the last 3 outs to secure the win.
Warsaw is tied with Mishawaka at 4-1 in the NLC.
