Tigers Respond with Road Win Over Short-Handed Chesterton

The Warsaw boys basketball team bounced back from a heart-breaking loss at Mishawaka Thursday by winning at Chesterton Saturday 73-62.

The Tigers outscored the Trojans 44-25 in the middle two quarters to lead 52-38 with eight minutes to play.

But a Chesterton team missing potential Indiana All-Star Justin Sims and another starter wouldn't give in, in large part because of Tyler Parrish. Parrish finished with 37 points, of which 30 came after halftime.

The Tigers' 19-point lead was whittled down to six with just under 6:00 left, but a 3-pointer by Luke Bricker followed by another by Robbie Finlinson on the next possession push the lead back to double-digits and the Tigers were able to salt the game away.

Four Tigers finished in double figures led by Bricker's 25 points and 8 rebounds, Brandt Martin's 23, Finlinson's 12 and Luke Yeager's 10.

Warsaw won the JV game in overtime 42-36. Kellen Bailey led Warsaw with 12 points.

Warsaw will host Marion at Lakeview Middle School Tuesday.
