Depleted Lady Tiger Wrestlers Compete at Central Noble

End first regular season

The Lady Tiger Wrestlers had their final tuneup before the IHSAA Sectionals on Saturday.  The Tigers had wrestlers in both JV and Varsity competition at the Central Noble Invitational.

Warsaw entered just 5 wrestlers into the varsity tournament, but all of them placed in the top 5 of the 44-team field.

Kynna Yoder, Natalie Davis, and Mariana Castro placed 4th.
Emma DeWald and Kaiah Long placed 5th.

Kynna Yoder's 4-2 record at 120 pounds came with all 4 wins being by pin.
Natalie Davis went 3-2 at 130 pounds, also winning each match by pin.
Mariana Castro's 3-1 record at 155 pounds put her into the conso finals before exiting by medical default.

Emma DeWald's path to placement was a bit longer, taking a 4-2 record at 125 pounds.  She picked up 3 pins to advance and in her final match earned a late takedown to win by decision.

Kaiah Long rallied into the semi finals at 170 pounds before facing a couple of setbacks.  Her 3-2 record for the day was on the strength of 3 pins.

On the JV side the Tigers were represented by Makayla McGlennen, Lilly Winston, Claris Avila, and Marely Gutierrez.

McGlennen went 2-0 in her bracket to earn a championship and Gutierrez was 2-1 to take 2nd place.

The Lady Tigers will be at Mishawaka on January 3 for the opening round of the state tournament series.
