Warsaw's Lady Tiger Wrestlers hosted their first home event Thursday night in the Tiger Den. In a dual contest that featured just two head-to-head matches, the Tigers swept the Wildcats and finished the night with a 62-0 win.
In the evening's first bout, Mariana Castro dominated her opponent at 155 pounds through a period and a half before winning by technical fall (16-0).
The night's other contest saw two of the state's top-ranked wrestlers at 190 pounds square off. Warsaw's Kaiah Long was able to score the first takedown of the match and would put in a grinding effort to take home a 7-1 decision.
Warsaw picked up wins by forfeit in 9 other weight classes.
Winners for the Tigers were: Paloma Cervantes, Zoe Ortega, Makayla McGlennen, Kynna Yoder, Emma DeWald, Claris Avila, Natalie Davis, Cadence Escoto, and Emily Dawson.
The Lady Tigers are now 1-1 in dual competition and will travel to Rochester for their annual Invitational tournament on Saturday.
