The Tiger boys basketball team struggled for most of their Saturday match-up with Elkhart, but they once again made the big plays in the end to beat the Lions 43-40 in the Tiger Den.
Brandt Martin led Warsaw with 19 points, including two key plays in the game's closing minute--a rebound tip-in and a lay-up in which he was fouled on a long pass from Mydin Burgher with just seconds left. Martin missed the ensuing free throw, but the Lions lost the ball and Burgher grabbed it as time expired.
It was another close win for Warsaw, who is now 11-3 on the season after winning games at NorthWood and at home over Elkhart by a total of four points.
The JV also won 43-27 over Elkhart, with Tristan Wilson scoring 12 points to led the Tiger effort.
The boys are at Mishwaka Thursday (JV 6:15) and at Chesterton Saturday (JV 1pm ET).
