The Tiger boys basketball team has made a habit of winning close games on the road.
The most recent heart stopper was a 35-34 win at NorthWood Friday night propel Warsaw back into a legitimate hope of a conference championship.
Luke Yeager was challenged to guard all-NLC big man Tyler Raasch and contribute at the offensive end too. Raasch managed only nine points and two rebounds, while Yeager led all scorers with 17 points on 7-8 FGs, a 3-pointer and 2-3 FTs.
The game was tied at the end of each of the first two quarters, but the Tigers raced on to a 7 point lead after three, holding the Panthers to only three points in the third quarter.
Warsaw would push the lead to 11 early in the fourth, but some missed shots and ball handling errors opened the door for the hosts to climb back into the game.
Brandt Martin's free throw in the game's waning seconds put Warsaw up by four, so Ethan Wolfe's 3-pointer at the buzzer left the Pathers a point short.
The Warsaw JV pulled away in the second half at topped NorthWood 40-26, with Tristan Wilson leading the way with 17 points and 7 steals.
Warsaw (10-3, 3-2 NLC) hosts Elkhart Saturday at 6pm.
