Zollinger, Tiger D leads Tigers to Win Over Concord

Warsaw's running game and stellar defense did the job again as the varsity football team posted a 10-3 win in their home opener Friday night.

Sr. FB Reed Zollinger carried the ball 28 times for 247 yards--a season high for yards for him this season.

But the defense is the biggest reason why Warsaw is 4-0.

Warsaw held Concord to just 3 points and 114 total yards of offense and picked off QB Hudson Glantz twice. Offensive mistakes by the Tigers led Concord to have great field position, but the defense rose up each and every time to keep the Minutemen out of the end zone.

An interception by Ethan Egolf deep in Tiger territory gave the Tigers the ball to start a drive at their own 32. Warsaw would drive the ball 68-yards in 5:10 for the game's only touchdown, and to put Concord down to stay.

A field goal by Mason Smythe put the Tigers up by 10 in the 3rd, but Concord wasn't finished.

A field goal by Rafa Sabas made it 10-3 with just over 4 minutes left. The Tigers would need two first downs to secure the win, but another lost fumble put Concord in a position to tie the game.

But that Warsaw defense rallied and shut the door with 1:41 left to secure the win.

NorthWood comes to Fisher Field in Week 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
