The Warsaw Lady Tigers opened their season with two wins and a loss at the Indian Invite. The weekend started off with a matchup against #10 Saint Joseph. The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game, putting Warsaw in a position to chase the game. The game remained 1-0 until five minutes into the second half, when the Indians punched through the Tiger back line to go up 2-0. Saint Joseph showed why they've earned their ranking as they scored two more before Warsaw put a goal on the board. A header from Sam Aalbue off a corner kick from Corissa Koontz would be the lone goal for the Tigers.
Saturday brought success for the Tigers, as they opened the early game with a 6-0 win over McCutcheon. Rylee Burns had a hat trick and an assist in the win, while Sam Aalbue added two goals and Macy Wayne added one of her own. Corissa Koontz and Sarah Kratzsch each had two assists for the Tigers, giving them their first win of the season. Freshman Ellie Schenck made three saves to earn her first career shutout.
The second game in the afternoon had the Tigers facing South Bend Adams. Corissa Koontz opened the scoring for Warsaw ten minutes into the match as her corner kick bent directly in the side netting. Warsaw took the 1-0 lead into the half, but Adams scored the equalizer just 6 minutes into the second half. The game turned physical as both teams pushed for the go ahead goal, but a free kick by Zoe Bergan with 11:00 left in the game proved to be the game winner.
