Exander Ramirez ran for a two-point conversion in overtime that lift the Plymouth Rockies to a 33-32 win at Fisher Field Friday night.
The game was played in windy, rainy conditions as the remnants of Hurricane Helene moved through Northern Indiana.
Warsaw fumbled twice in their first four plays from scrimmage, and those miscues led to 14 points for the Rockies.
The Tigers battled back and took a 13-10 lead into halftime on touchdown runs by Quinton Brock and Evan Davis. Brock got the start at quarterback for Drew Sullivan, who was nursing a leg injury.
Plymouth scored in the third quarter after another fumble by Warsaw and led 17-13 heading into the fourth.
Warsaw found the end zone with 9:06 left on a 2-yard run by Daylon Fitzpatrick to put the Tigers back in front 19-17, but the extra point was blocked--the second time the Rockies blocked an extra point on the night.
The Tigers then got the ball back and scored with 2:45 left on a beautiful pass over the middle of the field to a wide-open Grady Nelson for what appeared to be the clinching touchdown. But after having two extra points blocked, Warsaw went for two and didn't make it, which kept the lead at 8 and gave Plymouth hope.
The Rockies went 80-yards in 2:12 to score on a 1-yard run wih :33 left to get Plymouth within two, and Ramirez found Gradyn Metsker in the end zone for a two-point pass and sent the game to overtime tied at 25-25.
Brody Duncan scored from 1-yard out to open overtime, and Mason Smythe added the extra point to put the Tigers up by 7.
Plymouth scored on their second play of overtime on a 10 yard pass from Ramirez to Metsker, which led to the quarterback's two-yard scramble for the game winner as Plymouth went for two points and the win.
Warsaw has lost back-to-back games for just the second time in Bart Curtis's seven years in Warsaw, and falls to 3-3 and 2-2 in the NLC.
The Tigers host Mishawaka Friday on Senior Night and "Pink Out Night". Kickoff is 7pm.
