Tiger Boys Win NLC Track Title on Last Pole Vault Attempt

In a track & field meet that was delayed by a day by the threat of storms, and delayed another day by darkness, please forgive the Warsaw boys track team thinking it was worth the wait.

Warsaw wrapped up an outright conference title Thursday night, even though the conference meet ended in a tie with Concord after both teams scored 166.5 points. Because Warsaw had won the regular season 7-0 (including a head-to-head win over Concord), the tie meant the Tigers were outright champs for a third straight season.

With darkness draping a curtain over the paul vault area, the last few attempts had to be moved from Wednesday to Thursday. Matt Marsh cleared the bar at 13' 8" on his last try to take first place, giving Warsaw enough points to draw even with the Minutemen for the meet. Warsaw had been trailing by 10 points until the final scores from pole vault were added in.

It's the third straight league title for Scott Erba and the boys team.
