Boys Wrestling 22nd at Al Smith Invitational

DAY 1 RECAP

The Warsaw Tiger Wrestlers finished day one of the Al Smith Invitational sitting in 20th place as a team.

While just one wrestler advanced to tomorrow's placement matches, 12 of the 14 wrestlers picked up wins and advancement points in the state's premier individual tournament.

Kameron Kauffman earned three first period pins to advance into the semifinals at 285 pounds.

KC Smith (132) and Enrique Silva (150) had breakout days for the Tigers. Both wrestlers battled deep into the tournament and fell just a match short of placement.

Smith started the morning with a tech fall in round one before getting out into the consolation rounds. He picked up two more wins by decision and finished the day with a 3-2 record.

Silva's 3-2 record came on the strength of three pinfalls - one in the opening round and two in the consolations.

DAY 2 RECAP

Warsaw Wrestling finished day 2 of the Al Smith Invitational in 22nd place.

The 32-team field is loaded with many of the best programs in the state and top ranked individuals.

Kameron Kauffman was the only Tiger to qualify for the placement matches on day 2.
His 1-2 record for the day and 4-2 record for the tournament earned him a 4th place finish.
