Warsaw lost twice in the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle Saturday, but very much proved that they belong in the discussion of the state's best teams.
GAME 1
Warsaw held 4A #1 Fishers to 3 points in the third quarter to take a lead into the final period, but were outscored 17-8 in the fourth to fall 54-51 in the semifinals.
With Warsaw down 3 with :06 left, Fishers missed a free throw that would have secured the win. The Tigers got the rebound and worked the ball up court to Robbie Finlinson, but Finlinson's 25-foot shot at the buzzer rattled out of the rim, and gave Fishers a berth in the championship.
Finlinson finished a season-high 21. Brandt Martin added 18.
GAME 2
Warsaw committed 16 turnovers and fell to 4A #9 Jeffersonville in the consolation game 51-44.
Martin again scored 18 points.
The two losses in New Castle were Warsaw's first two losses of the season.
Warsaw will play four games over two days in the Bob Wettig Tournament in Richmond January 2 and 3.
