Warsaw's men's and women's teams were both in action at Rochester on Wednesday night. In a unique setup, both teams wrestled in the main gym in front of a big crowd.
The Lady Tigers went into the night down a few wrestlers, but still picked up two wins against the host Zebras and John Glenn.
In the first dual contest, the Tigers defeated Rochester 42-18. The ladies followed that up with another win against John Glenn by a 36-15 score.
Five girls went 2-0 in the duals.
Mariana Castro pinned in both of her matches. Kristina Kolembe and Natalie Davis had 1 pin as part of their undefeated nights. Kynna Yoder and Kaiah Long also went 2-0.
Paloma Cervantes was 1-1 with a pin. Emma DeWald and Claris Avila were also 1-1 on the night.
The girls close out their inaugural dual meet season with a 3-3 record. They will travel to Central Noble on Saturday for a final test before the sectional tournament in January.
The men's varsity was also victorious against the Zebras.
On the guys' side of the gym, Warsaw battled back from a slow start to pick up a 51-27 win.
Rochester won in the first three matches to take a 16-0 lead.
The Tigers' first win came at 285 with Kameron Kauffman battling back from a 8-2 deficit to rally and earn a tough 10-9 decision.
After collecting wins by forfeit at 106, 113, and 120 - Warsaw found themselves on top with a 21-16 lead.
The Tigers would never look back from there, winning 5 of the final 7 matches- 4 of them by pin.
Gabe Veit pinned at 126, Alex Vallejo at 138, and Leo Castro at 144.
The Tigers picked up another forfeit at 150 and then scored their final team points with a pin at 157 from Danny Moon.
The boys are now 13-5 for the season and will host Mishawaka on Thursday night.
