TIger Defense Holds, Secures Win in Final Regular Season Home Game

The Tiger defense surrendered late touchdowns in each of the last two games, but Friday night was different.

Warsaw held on and secured a 21-13 victory over Mishawaka at Fisher Field Friday.

Warsaw led by 8 with 2:50 to play against a Mishawaka offense that came in averaging 35 points per game. The Tigers led 24-21 at Concord before losing the lead in the game's final half minute, and lost last week after giving a touchdown and 2-point conversion in the closing seconds of regulation. But on this night, Warsaw's defense was up to the task and locked down the win with an incomplete pass on a desperation fourth down heave up the Tiger sideline with 1:10 to play.

Warsaw scored first on a 27-yard run by Tucker Reed in the first quarter. The Cavemen answered with the next 10 points and led 10-7 at the half.

Warsaw regained the lead on a TD by Evan Davis on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter.

Leading 14-13, the Tigers took over with 6:43 to play. They went 65 yards in 3:53 to get the sealing score on a 4-yard pass from Quinton Brock to Ethan Egolf with 2:50 left to go.

The defense then shut the door on Mishawaka's hopes for a comeback.

Warsaw is 4-3, 3-2 in the NLC with a road trip to Nappanee to take on NorthWood next Friday. Kickoff is at 7pm.
