The Tiger boys soccer team will play West Lafayette Harrison in the Regional Finals Saturday at Kokomo after a win over Carroll in a penalty kick shootout Thursday night north of Fort Wayne.
The 80 minutes of regulation-time and 14 minutes of extra time held very little in the way of suspense because neither team could build many scoring chances.
So it went to penalties.
Camden Lennox, Tanner Reynolds and Logan Lennox all made their kicks, and Carroll answered with three of their own.
Mydin Burgher's attempt was stopped, but Carroll's #4 kicker lifted his try over the cross bar and the shootout remained tied.
Callen O'Brien put his kick in to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead, which the Chargers answered, and it went to extra kickers.
Sam Lara scored to give Warsaw the lead 5-4, and the sixth kicker for Carroll also missed high to give the Tigers the win and to launch a celebratory pile of humanity just outside the penalty area with GK Finn Bailey near the bottom.
