Wrestlers 4th at East Noble

The Warsaw wrestling team was in competition at the East Noble Invitational on Saturday. 

The Tigers traveled with a mix of veteran starters and youngsters getting opportunities to fill in and came away with a 4th place team finish. 

The Tigers had two championship performances from Bryce McNees at 113 pounds and Danny Moon at 150. 

McNees advanced to to semifinals by forfeit and then mad quick work of the field with two early pins to secure the championship. 

Moon's championship path was similar, taking a forfeit and earning two pins after dragging his opponents into the later periods. 

Third place finishers were Kameron Kauffman and Donovan Frazier. 

Kauffman lost a nail-biter in the semis at 215 pounds after not being able to chase down his opponent, but recovered to finish 3-1 on the day with two pins and a tech fall. 

Frazier lost his first match of the morning, but rallied back to 3rd at 106 pounds. In the placement match, Frazier was able to avenge his early loss by stacking points for a major decision. 

Gabe Veit was the only 4th place finisher for Warsaw. He finished the day with a 2-3 record and of his wins were by major decision. 

The Tigers got important team points and quality performances with 5th place finishes in five weight classes. 

Three Tigers battled to 4-2 records for 5th place including Jace Vining at 190 pounds, Enrique Silva at 144, and Deleo Castro at 138. 

KC Smith went 3-2 at 126 for his 5th place finish, and Aaron Ross went 2-2 for 5th place at 157. 

Liam Smith picked up a win by major decision at 175, but was unable to place. 

The Tigers will be at Mishawaka next weekend for the NLC Championships.
