The Tiger Wrestlers wrapped up the regular season at the Northern Lakes Conference tournament in Mishawaka on Saturday.
Warsaw got two championship performances from Elias Garza at 120 pounds and Kameron Kauffman at 215.
Garza marched his way into the finals with a pin in the first round and major decision in the semifinals. In the finals, he was able to come up with big points late to earn a 6-4 decision and the conference title.
Kauffman powered through the first round with an early pin and worked his way into another in the semifinals. The finals match at 215 also came down to a gut-check moment as he was able to pick up a late takedown and hold on for a 9-6 decision.
Aaron Ross was also a finalist for the Tigers at 157 pounds, finishing with a runner-up performance. Both of his matches on the path to the finals ended via second-period pins while giving up no points.
Bryce McNees brought home a third-place finish at 113 pounds. He collected a forfeit in round one before dropping his semifinal match. In the wrestle-back round, he controlled the action on the mat and picked up a pair of decisions for placement.
Three other Tiger Wrestlers worked their way into placement as well.
KC Smith continued his outstanding work while filling in at the varsity level. His 2-2 record at 126 pounds earned him fourth place.
Alex Vallejo at 138 was also a fourth place finisher with a 2-2 record.
Gabe Veit was the final wrestler for the Tigers to advance to the placement rounds. His pin in the first wrestle back pushed him into a 6th place finish.
The Tigers finished the tournament in 7th place, which matched the dual standings.
Warsaw will be at Plymouth next week as the sectional round of the IHSAA tournament series begins.
