Lady Tigers Bow Out in Sectional Semifinals

A brilliant season came to a disappointing end in a 55-53 loss to Elkhart in the sectional semifinals at Concord Friday night.

The Tigers fell into an early 10-point hole, but a strong last two minutes of the quarter capped off by Abbey Peterson's desperation 3-pointer from 30-feet out at the buzzer to tie the score at 17 after one quarter.

Warsaw took that momentum into the second quarter, building a 24-17 lead and putting the Lady Lions on their heels.

But Elkhart finished the half in style, going on an 11-4 run to take a 28-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was a rollercoaster, with the lead changing hands twice in the 3rd quarter and ending with Elkhart still on top 43-41.

Warsaw tied the game at 48 in the middle of the 4th, but was never able to take control of the game.

Elkhart made enough of their free throws to hold the Lady Tigers off at the end and advance on to the sectional final.

Elkhart shot just 38-percent from the field and 9-16 at the free throw line, but grabbed 26 offensive rebounds to help their cause.

Warsaw shot 41-percent from the field, including 12-26 from beyond the arch.

Joslyn Bricker led the Lady Tigers with 17 points. Peterson added 14.

Warsaw finishes the season 18-6 and Northern Lakes Conference champions.

They broke school records with 195 3-point FGs and also broke the school record for 3-point FG percentage by a team. Fr. Brooke Zartman broke the school record for 3-pointers by an individual with 66 this season.
