Tiger Wrestlers Lose Late to Goshen

The Tiger Wrestling team hosted the Goshen Redhawks on Thursday night for an NLC dual and fell 45-27.

The dual saw a couple of lead changes and a tight team race for the majority of the night.

Goshen picked up wins to start the contest at 190 & 215 pounds to take an early 7-0 lead.

Kameron Kauffman got Warsaw going with a win by pin at 285 pounds, and Donovan Frazier scrapped out a 13-7 decision to put Warsaw ahead 7-0.

In the evening's closest battle Goshen snuck out a decision at 113 to regain the lead.

They followed that up with another win at 120 to go up 15-9.

Elias Garza took a big lead into the third period before earning a pinfall with one second left in his 126-pound matchup.

Gabe Veit followed suit and picked up a pin of his own at 132 as the Tigers would get the lead back at 21-15.

Goshen won at 138 and 144 to regain the lead at 27-21.

Danny Moon went to work in his 150-pound match and earned a first period pin to tie the dual at 27-27.

In the final matches of the night, Warsaw's youth ran into Goshen's veteran leaders and the Redhawks pulled ahead for good at 45-27.

In one of the biggest JV dual events in recent years, 19 total matches took place prior to the varsity contest.

JV winners for the Tigers were:

KC Smith (pin)

Jerus Velazquez (pin)

Oren Henn (pin)

Leo Castro (pin)

Logan Ellison (pin)

Gavin McPeak (pin)

The Tigers varsity record drops to 3-4 and 0-3 in the NLC. They will host the Hutch Memorial Duals on Saturday.
