It was a historic day for Warsaw girls basketball in the the DAC/NLC Shootout Saturday in Merrillville.
In the first varsity game, Warsaw jumped out to a 21-7 and cruised to a 65 44 win over Crown Point.
Senior Brooke Winchester hit 3 three-pointers in the opening eight minutes to set the tone for the Lady Tigers. She went on to finish with 17 points and 10 rebounds--her 4th straight game with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds. Joslyn Bricker added 20 points in Brooke Zartman scored 13.
Warsaw forced 24 Lady Bulldog turnovers that fueled Warsaw's transition game and helped build a 37-23 halftime lead.
The Lady Tigers shot a season best 53% from the field for the game, including 11-25 from outside the arch.
Game 2 also went the Lady Tigers way, with Warsaw winning 81-63 over Merrillville in a game that was more like a track meet than a basketball game from tip off to final buzzer.
Warsaw shot 60% from the field in the first half and 58% for the game, including 14/29 from beyond the arc.
The Lady Tigers Tigers had three players score more than 20 points against the Lady Pirates: Brooke Zartman a career-high 26, Joslyn Bricker 23 and Brooke Winchester 21 with 12 rebounds. Winchester has posted a double-double in all five games this season.
For the day, Zartman scored 39 points and hit 10 three-pointers, Winchester scored 38 points and grabbed 22 boards, and Bricker scored 43 points and made 19 of 24 from the field (15-16 from 2-pt range).

Junior varsity girls also won their opening game over Crown point 52-34.
Cassie Jackson scored 7 points but grabbed 12 rebounds, while Lucy Andrew scored 12 and had 9 steals, Sammi Rastrelli added 11 and Cayleigh Goheen 10 points 9 rebounds.
The JV cruised to a perfect day of their own with a 57-15 win over Merrillville in their second game.
They outscored the Lady Pirates 35-9 in the first half and never looked back.
Cassie Jackson scored 17 points on 7/9 FG shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Lucy Andrew added 11 points and collected five rebounds.
