The Warsaw JV Lady Tigers fought the rain and came away with an impressive 1-0 win over the Northrop Bruins Monday night.
Both teams went scoreless through the first half as the wind and rain made possession difficult.
As the second half began to wind down, it looked as if tie was inevitable, but Warsaw's relentless attack forced a free kick from 20 yards away. Mariana Castro took a glance at the keeper, made her approach, and buried her shot into the side netting to score the lone-goal of the match and give Warsaw a 1-0 victory. Hailey Strange and Lizi Martinez once again combined for a shutout for the Lady Tigers.
The Warsaw JV squad is now 6-1-1 on the season.
They will travel to Penn High School for their next match on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00pm.
