Tigers Get Defensive in Win Over Chesterton

Start 2-0

Warsaw's varsity football team rallied in the second half to beat Chesterton Friday 24-7.

With the Tigers trailing 7-3 at halftime and Chesterton receiving the third-quarter kickoff, Warsaw forced the Trojans into a quick punt. Trai Davis returned that punt to the Trojan 44, and a holding penalty against Chesterton on the return moved the ball to the 34.

A few plays later, Bryson Brown swept around the left side and into the end zone from 3 yards out to give the Tigers the lead to stay.

Warsaw would score an insurance touchdown on a daring fourth down pass from Grady Nolin to Russ Winchester, who was lined up as a tight end and flared out into the end zone for a 10-yard score. It was the first pass the Tigers had completed in two games to start the season.

Nick Katris would remove all doubt in the outcome on the following possession when he picked off a pass and ran it 32-yards for a touchdown with 2:25 left.

Warsaw is 2-0 and hosts Plymouth in the NLC opener Friday.
