Lady Tigers Put on Dominant Performance over Spartans

WARSAW, Ind. - Warsaw's Lady Tiger Track and Field team competed in their first home track meet of the 2021 season, going against the Lady Spartans of Homestead in a dual format. 

The Lady Tigers pieced together impressive results in the meet, including 12 event wins throughout the meet that lead to a final score of 95 - 37. 

The list of impressive performances included the 4x800 meter relay, comprised of  Beckham, Silvieus, Barnett, and Lusinde with a winning time of 10:01.60. Also, it was a clean sweep in the 100 meter hurdle event with Marin Hart winning with a time of 16.23, followed by Brooklyn Fitzgerald in second with a time of 18.06, and Sarah Kratzsch rounding out the top three with a time of 18.65.

The 1600 meter run was as competitive as they come, but was another clean sweep for the Lady Tigers. Josefina Rastrelli took first place in 5:26.71. Elizabeth Vander Bie battled Ava Knight for second overall in 5:27.70, and Knight finished in 5:27.71. 

One of the top performances of the night came in the 200 meter dash from Emerson Jenkins. She came across the finish line for the event win with a time of 28.69. Lily Boston sprinted her way to a third place finish and posted a 28.91.

In the Long Jump Competition, it was yet another clean sweep for the Lady Tigers. Erika Bugg soared to an event win with a 15-10.75. Kendra Love jumped 15-06.00, and Kiana Rager jumped 15-03.00.

Abby Sanner, a familiar name across Warsaw Athletics, put on a dominant performance within the throwing events. She came away with event wins in both the Shot Put (34-04.00) and Discus (102-02). 

The Warsaw Lady Tigers will be back on the track on March 14th at Northridge High School in a Double Dual Meet vs. Northridge and Goshen High School. The meet will start at 5:30pm.
