Lady Tigers Pull Away From Elkhart, Advance to championship

Warsaw outscored the Lady Lions 49-18 in middle two quarters

For a little over nine minutes at the start of the second girls basketball sectional semifinal between Warsaw and Elkhart, the Lady Lions controlled the tempo and led the game.  

But Warsaw took over in the second and pulled away for a 67-36 win to advance to Saturday's championship game against Northridge. 

Warsaw outscored Elkhart 21-6 in the the 2nd quarter, then outdid them again 28-12 in the 3rd quarter to put the game on ice. 

Brooke Winchester was the leading scorer for Warsaw for the fifth straight game, scoring 16 points and leaving her 10 points away from becoming the third Lady Tiger this season and the 9th ever to reach 1,000 career points. 

Joslyn Bricker added 15, Brooke Zartman 12 and Braylie Chastain 10--her first double-digit scoring game of the season. 

Warsaw will play at home against Northridge for the championship tomorrow. The game is scheduled for 6pm but winter weather could alter the schedule. Follow the Warsaw Athletics Facebook page and X feed for any adjustments that are made.
