The third-ranked Lady Tiger basketball team lost for the first time this season in a 67-55 loss at #5 Homestead Tuesday night.
Poor shooting and turnovers put the Lady Tigers down 23-14 at the end of the first quarter, and despite playing a better second quarter the still found themselves down 34-27 at halftime. Brooke Zartman was held scoreless and Joslyn Bricker scored just two points in the first half.
But Sr. Brooke Winchester did everything she could to keep Warsaw in the game. The Ball State-bound post player scored 24 points and grabbed 21 rebounds--career highs in both categories. Only Kate Denlinger's 23 rebounds against NorthWood in 2008 and Cindy Horn's 22 against Manchester in 1982 are more in the LTBB record book for a single game.
Zartman finished with a season-low 4 points.
The JV also lost 43-39, ending their winning streak at 15 games.
Warsaw (18-1) will play Tippecanoe Valley at home Thursday, then travel to Concord Saturday for an outright NLC championship Saturday.
