Varsity Warsaw Lady Tiger Rugby Over Powers Carroll

JV loses in heartbreaking fashion

The Warsaw Lady Tigers and the Carroll Chargers is always a a tough physical game and last nights game was no different. Warsaw took the lead when after some constant pressure and powerful runs from the Tigers forwards Raquel Bermudez drove over the line to score her first try of the game giving Warsaw a 5 point lead Carroll came back a few minutes later after some ill discipline from Warsaw when they score a try off a penalty close to the Warsaw try zone evening the score. After some intense and physical play in the center of the field. Warsaw were able to drive down the field allowing Sarah Handy to carry hard and cross the Carroll try line to give the Tigers a 10 to 5 lead. Again the Tiger infringed being offside at the ruck allowing the Chargers to again score a try off the resulting penalty to even the score at 10 all at the half time break. The Tigers came out at the start of the second half with increased intensity and physicality hitting tackles and rucks hard. Early in the half the Tigers took the lead when after a counter ruck which allowed Warsaw to regain possession. They transition quickly to offense spreading the ball wide to our back line allowing Mia Blocher to break through the disorganized Chargers defense to score her first try. This was converted by  Raquel Bermudez to give the Tigers a 17 to 10 lead. The Chargers were not done however coming back on Warsaw to score another try to bring the score back to within two points. As the game continued Warsaw's power and physical intensity started to wear down the Chargers and they struggled to contain Warsaw as we moved the ball down our back line. As the game headed into the final 15 minutes Mia Blocher scored two quick tries one of which was converted by Raquel Bermudez giving them a 29 to 15 lead. With just a few minutes of the game left the Tigers had the scrum put in close to the Chargers try line which allowed  Raquel Bermudez to pick up from the back of the scrum and crash over for the final try of the game sealing the 34 to 15  win for Warsaw.

JV Warsaw Lady Tigers 

The JV Tigers fought hard against the JV Chargers in their first game of their season. The Chargers scored a try and conversion to take a 7 point lead early in the half they extended their lead scoring another try taking them out to a 12 point lead. The tigers came back pushing the Chargers back towards their try line which allowed Angela Hoover to score a try bringing the half time score to 12 to 5 to the chargers.  Early in the second half the Chargers scored another try taking the score out to 17 to 5. However, the Tigers didn't give up. After some concerted pressure Sarah Handy was able to drive over the chargers try line to bring the score back to within 7. In the last minute of the game Warsaw again got close to the Chargers try line allowing Kaitlyn Long to score taking the score to Chargers 17 Warsaw 15. The last play of the game was a conversion which was the Tigers chance to level the score, unfortunately the kick by Riley Boren hit the cross bar and bounced back into the field of play ending the game.
