Lady Tigers Blow Out Penn

The Warsaw girls basketball team ended seven years of frustration by beating Penn 69-50 Tuesday in the Tiger Den.

It was Warsaw's first win over the Lady Kingsmen since November of 2016.

Warsaw jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter, but found themselves up by only one at the quarter break.

But the middle two quarters were where the game changed.

Warsaw outscored their guests 44-19 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and early in the 4th the Lady Tiger lead grew to 30 points. A late spirt by Penn made the final margin 19.

Warsaw was led by Brooke Zartman, who hit 7 more three-pointers on the night and finished with 25 points. She's hit 17 "3's" in the last three games.

Brooke Winchester finished with 13 points but only six rebounds, ending her streak of double-doubles to start the season at five games.

Joslyn Bricker scored 16 and a team-high 8 rebounds.

Warsaw is 4-2 and opens NLC play Nov. 28 at home against NorthWood.

The Lady Tiger JV also beat Penn 45-21.

Cassie Jackson scored 13 points and pulled down 17 rebounds, and Cayleigh Goheen added 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Warsaw's JV is 5-1.
