The Tiger wrestlers traveled to Mishawaka for their second NLC contest of the season. Warsaw clawed their way to some gritty wins on the night, but ultimately couldn't overcome the talented Caveman lineup.
Mishawaka jumped out to a 6-0 lead after a pin in the night's first contest at 132. In match two though, Warsaw responded with a huge pin of their own from Freshman 138-pounder, Danny Moon. Moon trailed early in the match but battled back to win key positions and work into the fall.
Warsaw took it's only lead of the night with another win at 145 as
Aaron Ross got his offense going late in the match to open up a lead late in the third period and adding nearfall points at the end of the match to earn a 14-6 major decision.
Andrew Ross battled in a close match against one of the areas top 152 pounders, but the Cavemen closed the gap to 10-9 in the team count.
Mishawaka picked up a win by tech fall to take back the lead at 14-10 before putting together a run of wins by pinfall.
Entering the 285 pound match with the team score at 38-10, the Tigers put together back-to-back pinfalls of their own.
Gideon Castro got to work from his feet early and worked to secure the pin at 285, then
Bryce McNees followed suit at 106 to round out Warsaw's scoring.
Mishawaka picked up a forfeit at 113, then won a hotly contested match at 120 before closing the night with a pin at 126 to cap the scoring at 54-22.
In JV action prior to the start of the varsity contest, Warsaw picked up a win by pin from Kameron Kauffman.
The improvements on the mat and demeanor were noticeable throughout the night as the Tiger grapplers showed toughness and resilience against one of the tougher lineups in the conference.
Warsaw's record moves to 2-2 for the season and 0-2 in the NLC.
The Tigers will have a quick turnaround as the prepare to host Goshen in the Tiger Den on Thursday night.
