Freshmen Tigers Battle Elements in Win over Redhawks

October 1, 2020 Results

October 1, 2020 witnessed Warsaw's Freshman Football team improve their record to 5-1 as they defeated the Goshen Redhawks 38-8.  The Tigers demonstrated how much they are improving the execution of Warsaw's Flexbone offense by showing how deep their cast of talent this year.  Head freshman coach, Jason Nolin said, "We have several starters out with injuries and the depth of our team really showed tonight.  Great to see guys step up when given the opportunity."

The future Wild Hogs from the class of 2024 once again showed that the big men rule the field.  The offensive line consisting of Chase Carl, Harrison Stofer, Braxton Daniels, Isaac Beam, and Luke Yeager repeatedly opened the door for the running game.  The Tigers had five rushing touchdowns last night led by quarterback Grady Nolin with 2.  Colt VanHouten, Graham McGarvey, and Leyton Isbell all found the endzone while rushing as well.  Special teams add a score when Reed Zollinger fielded a punt from the Redhawks in the third quarter and proceeding to 'take it to the house' for a touchdown.

The defense played well, holding the Redhawks to 8 points.  Highlights were numerous for the defense with sacks being recorded by Chase Carl and Jette Woodward.  The team also saw nice tackles from Sam Gunter and Logan O'Malley to compliment solid showings from the rest of the defensive unit.  The Tiger Frosh will face off against rival Wawasee on Wednesday, October 7 at Wawasee beginning at 6:00pm.
